Yuki-onna (雪女; lit. ’snow woman’) is a spirit or yōkai in Japanese folklore that is often depicted in Japanese literature, films, or animation. Yōkai (妖怪; Japanese pronunciation: [joː.kai]) are a class of supernatural entities and spirits in Japanese folklore. The kanji representation of the word yōkai comprises two characters that both mean “suspicious, doubtful”.
